Summary: A basic education in Mexico involves three years of preschooling, six years of primary education, and three years of secondary education. The time spent in school is fifteen years, however, the school day is only around 4.5 hours (three hours in preschool, 4.5 in primary school, 7 hours in secondary school, and a variable amount of time in Bachillerato according to the scheme). This has led to the claim that the majority of pupils aged 15 have not attained the minimum level of education needed to find gainful employment. The claim about quality of education and children's attainment can be attributed to various factors, not just the time spent in school. The National Institute of Educational Evaluation (INEE) has an ample bibliography on this issuePPN: PPN: 1831432730Package identifier: Produktsigel: ZDB-1-BECS
