Zusammenfassung: Knowledge Management (KM) as a multidisciplinary discipline has strong roots in Information Sciences (IS), which are sometimes overlooked by knowledge managers, while information scientists regard KM sometimes as a particular branch of the IS discipline. This chapter starts with a brief historical review of the common roots and overlapping areas of both disciplines.
