Tendencias en el acceso abierto a información ambiental en la Amazonía

Subject(s): Online resources: Summary: This book investigates the evolution of open access to scientific information related to the environment in the member countries of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization between 2021 and 2023. It aims to identify patterns of scientific production in open access, as well as the barriers and opportunities presented by this model to foster collaborative research and support conservation in the Amazon region. Through a bibliometric analysis based on the PRISMA protocol, more than one thousand scientific publications available in open access were analyzed. The results indicate that Brazil is the main producer of research in the region, followed by Colombia and Ecuador, although there are still important challenges such as the digital divide and the lack of infrastructure in other Amazonian areas. The discussion highlights how open access has facilitated international cooperation, although it warns that disparities in the availability of resources limit the impact of the knowledge generated. In conclusion, the study underlines that open access is essential to promote research and informed decision making in the Amazon, but a concerted effort is required to overcome the structural barriers that affect the equitable dissemination of scientific knowledge in the regionSummary: El presente libro investiga la evolución del acceso abierto a la información científica relacionada con el medio ambiente en los países miembros de la Organización del Tratado de Cooperación Amazónica entre 2021 y 2023. Como objetivo tiene identificar patrones de producción científica en acceso abierto, así como las barreras y oportunidades que presenta este modelo para fomentar la investigación colaborativa y apoyar la conservación de la región amazónica. Mediante un análisis bibliométrico basado en el protocolo PRISMA, se analizaron más de mil publicaciones científicas disponibles en acceso abierto. Los resultados indican que Brasil es el principal productor de investigación en la región, seguido de Colombia y Ecuador, aunque aún persisten importantes desafíos como la brecha digital y la falta de infraestructura en otras zonas amazónicas. La discusión resalta cómo el acceso abierto ha facilitado la cooperación internacional, aunque se advierte que las disparidades en la disponibilidad de recursos limitan el impacto del conocimiento generado.
