Zusammenfassung: From a German perspective; the interpretation of statutes has been analysed in many ways. But what about supreme court judgements? Despite their acute relevance for the practical application of the law; there are hardly any approaches as to how to get from the decided individual case to the cross-case rule. This work therefore outlines a practical method of interpreting precedents from a German perspective. In particular; the decisions of the German courts of appeal are analysed. Special features of the case law of the Federal Constitutional Court; the ECJ and the ECtHR are taken into account.
