Since the beginning of the millennium, there has been a marked increase in the number of French-language narratives that deconstruct the mythologisation of the mother, which has long prevailed in artistic representation, and present her in new literary forms that oscillate between autobiography, fiction and essay. The increase in matrifocal narratives, which can be described as autosociobiography in the sense of Annie Ernaux or as autotheory in the sense of Lauren Fournier, forms the starting point of this anthology.
